this site greeted me when i came home from work today. it is the snow apocalypse. or, the snowpocalypse if you will

inevitably dogs who have been by themselves all day will mess up my kitchen floor after going outside and doing this (i could not get the other one in the picture). when it gets snowy, we cannot really take the dogs out for a walk, because i am so worried about their feets getting all cold and snowy.  so we have to come up with other means of exercise.

over the weekend husband and i purchased EA Sports Active for our PS3. i do have to say its pretty damn cool. both husband and i tried it out and it does work up a sweat! I was surprised. it comes with 3 sensors, one for each arm, and one for the right leg. there is also a heart monitor on the right arm sensor. From the EA website:

“EA SPORTS Active 2 with Total Body Tracking features an innovative wireless control system powered by motion sensors in leg and arm straps that provide complete freedom of motion. It also feature a heart rate monitor that provides constant on-screen monitoring, allowing users to capture intensity and optimize performance over time. Users are able to track and share their workout data online through automatic uploading from their online connected console to their personalized EA SPORTS Active profile. EA SPORTS Active 2 with Total Body Tracking makes working out simple, fun and effective wherever you are.”

the screen monitors your heart rate and tracks how hard you are working during your workout. you can create your own avatar, and you have your choice of a male or female trainer that specialize in their own types of exercise. there are 68 different exercises that you can use to create your own custom workout, or you can choose from one of the trainer generated routines. the scenery is changing, and the intensity changes as you go. with planks and crunches abounding, you definitely get your sweat on. check out the game here. you will not be disappointed.
